These robots are designed to collaborate safely with humans in a shared workspace. Unlike traditional industrial robots, which are usually caged for safety, cobots prioritize human-robot interaction. What I mean to say is that they can incorporate features such as force limiting and user-friendly programming, making them suitable for a wide range of tasks and industries.

Applications of Cobots in the Manufacturing Sector
Assembly: Cobots are excellent at assembly tasks, especially those that are repetitive or require delicate manipulation. They can be used to put together electronic components and furniture, among countless other things. It is worth noting that the cobot can handle the more standardized or ergonomically challenging aspects of the assembly process.
Welding: Welding can prove to be a dangerous and demanding task, obviously. After all it involves exposure to fumes and heat. Instead, you can fit cobots with welding torches to automate welding processes. This would, thus, increase worker safety and alleviate the risk of injury. Cobots are especially useful for smaller batch sizes or more complex weld geometries.
Material handling: Cobots can transport materials safely across the manufacturing floor. This means they can work near human workers. This not only reduces physical strain on human workers, but it also improves material flow and overall productivity. They can be easily integrated with conveyor systems to create a streamlined material handling process.
Quality inspection: Cobots equipped with vision systems and other sensors can carry out automated quality checks. They can inspect flaws and measure dimensions with high accuracy and consistency. This can occur at any stage of the manufacturing process.
Packaging: Cobots can automate a variety of packaging processes, including picking and placing products in boxes. And let us not forget that they can work at high speeds while ensuring consistent packaging quality. This can increase packaging efficiency and ensure that products are packaged correctly.
Machine tending: Since it involves loading and unloading machines, this can be a tedious and physically demanding task. You can put cobots to work to automate machine maintenance operations. They can work near machines, loading and unloading parts with a high degree of precision.
Surface finishing: Cobots when outfitted with specialized tools to automate these processes, resulting in higher surface finish quality. They can be programmed to follow specific paths and apply the appropriate force. This helps ensure that parts are finished with the required specifications, thus alleviating the risk of human error.
